This Year’s Beneficiaries
I am very proud to announce that with your help and attendance at A Taste of Claremont 2008, together we will be supporting three projects that are near and dear to my heart. They have at least one goal in common – all support children who are living in poverty. This year, A Taste of Claremont’s proceeds will provide funds to Uncommon Good (a local organization that mentors educational at-risk children ages 9 to 18;) Uganda Water Project (a system to provide clean water to the village of Kyabasaija Uganda;) and PolioPlus – Rotary’s efforts to eradicate polio in eastern Africa and India.

A couple of years ago while on a manager’s meeting with Ben Bridge Jewelers, I had the privilege of speaking with Warren Buffett. I was impressed with a statement he made in regards to his secret to life and wealth. He said that if he were born with the same genes, but in a poverty-stricken part of the world rather than the US, he would not have the opportunities to achieve what he has in his life. It would have been impossible. This made a tremendous impression on me and I realize how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity to succeed. My dream is that with this year’s proceeds we will be able not only to provide some relief from poverty and sickness, and assistance for education; but also that just maybe an opportunity will exist for someone in the world to become another “Warren Buffett.”
